Product Review:
Simple Digital Photo Tips by David Whittle
#AFFILIATE_URL#
When I first looked this eBook I said to
myself “oh no, not digital photography eBook” but to my complete
surprise this eBook actually got my attention.
Simple
Digital Photo Tips has been written with the newcomer or novice to
digital photography in mind. I have to say that the information in
this book is laid out in a way that can be easily understood by anyone
and does not dwell too much on technical detail, which is what you
find in most photography books (not that this is a complaint).
Simple Digital Photo Tips acknowledges this fact and keeps things as
simple as possible and gives enough information to get the reader
interested, and enough information to get the camera out and take well
composed shots with the digital camera. On the theory that one
picture is worth a thousand words the book contains a good number of
example photos to illustrate the various points, comments and
concepts.
There are many excellent digital photography books of
all types available, and very good they are, but many would-be
photographers are not ready for the attention to technical detail found
in those books and they tend to lose interest quickly.
As a
keen and experienced photographer myself I wish that a book like this
had been available when I started out as it reduces the learning
curve considerably by concentrating on getting you out there to start
taking good photographs.
Bad results and too much technical
detail is a quick way for newcomers to lose interest in photography and
they remain "snappers" or forget about photography altogether so
this book should help to alleviate this.
The book starts with an
explanation of the various types of digital cameras, from the basic
point-and-shoot to DSLR cameras, which follows onto an overview of
the pros and cons of each camera type.
This is followed by tips
on deciding what camera is right for you.
The book refers to a
YouTube video which also explains the various camera types and which
will appeal more to some readers.
Next is an explanation of the
digital concepts such as memory, batteries which people need to know
about, followed by quite simple explanations of resolution, memory,
megapixels, and file formats.
All these explanations are kept
simple and easy to understand.
The largest section goes into
quite a lot more detail about composition and how to compose good
pictures. This is where you can find most picture samples which help
to explain the various composition rules.
This is followed by a
section which explains how to download and save your pictures, easily
explained. The setup of downloading via Windows XP is shown in
pictorial fashion which can be very useful if you haven't done this
before.
All through this book are practical "tips" , the sort
that comes with experience, which are very useful.
Finally, there
is a section of resources and recommendations for the people would like
to move to the next level.
All-in-all, a book which should be
very useful for the people it is aimed at and even more experienced
photographers could find something new here!
Simple Digital
Photo Tips has officially earned itself a place on my printed book shelf
with pages bookmarked and pages highlighted for when I find the need
to get back to the basics.
Thank you for reading.

Blog Post:
Simple Digital Photo Tips to help you take great
photos.
Do you want some easy to digest information on how to
take great pictures?
A new book (Simple Digital Photo Tips) about
getting started with digital cameras has been published and and I have
been able to get a copy
The book has basically been written with
beginners and novices in mind, although if you are experienced and have
been taking photos for some time with your DSLR then the book is not
really for you. You might find the odd tip or two which would jog
your mind though!
The emphasis with this book is to get people
started in digital photography, and get them out there taking pictures
as soon as possible. Having said all that nothing is more
discouraging and off-putting than cheerfully clicking away only to find
that the results are very unsatisfactory - in fact not worth looking
at.
Novice photographers need encouragement as much as the rest
of us and the best way to do that is to learn how to take better
pictures. Simple Digital Photo Tips does, in fact, do this in a way
that everyone can understand, without getting overwhelmed by too much
technical detail.
In this book you can read about the different
types of digital camera, and then get advice on what camera is for you.
This is followed by some buying advice, explanation of digital camera
concepts and then a large section, with picture samples, dedicated to
creating great shots.
Explanation of the rules of composition are
given, still in an easy-to read manner, with excellent sample
pictures illustrating the composition rules.
Finally, a section
which shows how to transfer your great shots to your computer and save
them. Throughout the book are useful tips which will help you in
day-to-day photography and a resources page at the end.
A very
useful book.
